Suncity Braves needed to beat Sunyani Technical University (STU) over the weekend to maintain its place atop the GSP Basketball League standings; Braves did not disappoint.
The team clinched a 41-34 win over STU to keep its first place intact after Week 12 games were seen out at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani.
Braves survived a fourth quarter furry from STU to clinch the win; Braves led 23-12 at the end of the first half and stretched its lead to 31-15 after the third quarter.
However, STU’s Samuel Bissue led the charge for his side in the fourth quarter and finished with 20 points which proved not enough to force overtime.
Braves headed to Week 12 tied on 20 points with second and third placed teams University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) and Desert Rabbits.
With Rabbits clinching a 31-22 win over Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints and UENR earning a forfeit win over West Siders, Braves need to win.
LIR Royals beat Barracks Scorpions 36-26.
