Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Male Basketball Team is likely not to make it beyond the quarterfinals of this year’s UPAC Basketball Championship.

According to Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Coach Owusu Ansah Ankrah, the 2015 UPAC Silver medalist will be beaten to Group A’s top two spots.

KNUST is in the group with host and two time winners University of Ghana (UG), TTU and Ghana Technology University College (GTUC).

The veteran trainer predicted TTU and UG will progress to the semifinals of the national competition which runs from April 12-14.

For Group B, Ankrah tipped 2011 and 2015 Champions Accra Technical University and University of Education-Winneba (UEW) to qualify.

The pair is in Group B with All Nations University College and Sunyani Technical University; All Nations and Sunyani have not been to the UPAC semifinals before.

Should Coach Ankrah’s predictions come true, it will mark the second straight year KNUST fails to make the semifinals.

The Kumasi-based institution failed to qualify for the semi in last year’s competition.
