Radford University College has demonstrated its steady rise in recent years in Ghana’s tertiary institutions basketball annals to clinch the PUSAG trophy.
The team beat Wisconsin International University College 35-25 to clinch the 2018 Private Universities Sports Association Games male basketball event.
The ten point win is an improvement on the team’s previous performance in the games and ends Marshalls University College’s two year run as champions.
Marshalls clinched back to back titles in 2016 and 2017 with last season’s title taking place at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape-Coast.
This year’s competition was held at the Paa Joe Stadium in Kumasi with Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) placing third ahead of Regent University of Science and Technology.
GTUC will redirect focus to the upcoming Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship knockout phase.
The team will be involved in the national competition from April 12-14 at the University of Ghana. Radford missed out on qualifying to the UPAC knockout zone but have made amends by winning in Kumasi.
