Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Male Basketball Team’s enviable run in the UPAC Basketball Championship came to a screeching halt in last year’s competition.

The team failed to progress beyond the quarterfinals after losing three games in Group A of the 2017 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges Championship.

KNUST lost to 41-43 to the likes of University of Cape-Coast and 23-38 to host and eventual winners University of Ghana (UG).

Speaking to players and Coaches of the Kumasi-based tertiary institution, there is a clear sense the team has big plans for this year’s edition.

The 2018 UPAC national competition takes place from April 12-14 at UG and has KNUST paired with the host team again.

KNUST and UG are in Group A with newcomer Ghana Technology University College and Takoradi Technical University.

Former player Emmanuel Amoako who is a member of the technical team stated in an interview with Basketballghana.com, “They-KNUST- have the heart to go far”.

KNUST topped Zone 5 to qualify to the quarterfinals.
