Getting placed in a group at the national stage of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is totally new to Ghana Technology University College (GTUC).
However, after qualifying from the preliminary stage for the first time in the competition, GTUC will be involved in this year’s edition.
Prior to this year’s competition, GTUC has tried and failed to make it to the national stage of Ghana’s most celebrated tertiary basketball competition.
The team upstaged Marshalls University College with a 16-14 win in Zone 7 to make the elite roster and is set to play for a podium finish from April 12-14.
GTUC’s fate in the quarterfinals will be known later tonight when the draw is conducted live on Courtside on Kwese Free Sport.
The event will take place during half time of the live broadcast of Washington Wizards game against Chicago Bulls tonight at 18:30 GMT.
The likes of two time UPAC winners Accra Technical University and University of Ghana will be involved in the draw after qualifying from the preliminary stage.
