University of Ghana (UG) has emerged winner in the opening game of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
UG beat Central University 52-21 in the first game in Zone 8 at UG’s main court in the final round of games in this year’s competition.
Winners of seven zones have been determined in previous weeks with the respective winners qualifying to the national competition which takes places next month.
UG took a 35-17 lead to the final quarter but continued to pile on points capitalizing on turnovers from Central University.
The latter side stepped in as a late replacement for Regional Maritime University who pulled out late form the competition due to reasons not known to Basketballghana.com
Rolling out a roster involving holdovers from the 2016 and 2017 including Shooting Guard Emmanuel Wolff, UG had little problems as it starts its quest for a third straight title.
Radford University College will be in action against Pentecost University College in the second game of the zone.
