Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) Male Basketball Team Captain Isaac Martey has stated his side fully deserves to qualify to the 2018 UPAC Basketball Championship national competition.

GTUC topped Zone 7 of this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship by winning all three games in the group.

GTUC beat University of Professional Studies 30-29 and Islamic University College 25-24 before delivering the biggest shock with a 16-14 win over Marshalls University College.

Beating 2017 silver medalist and favorite Marshalls University in the final game takes GTUC past the preliminary zone for the first time.

Despite claims from Marshalls GTUC got the better end form officiating calls in the game, Martey disputes it stating his side earned the win on fair grounds.

“We deserved to win we deserve it because we worked hard at training and we showed we are a good team” Martey said in an interview on basketball television show “Courtside” recently.

GTUC join the likes of Sunyani Technical University and Accra Technical University in the national competition which takes place from April 12-14.
