Marshalls University College Basketball Coach James Okine has launched a scathing attack on referees who called the game involving his side and Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) over the past weekend.

Okine’s side lost 14-16 to GTUC in the final game in Zone 7 of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The loss means Marshalls exit the competition while GTUC progress to the national competition set to be played out from April 12-14 at the University of Ghana.

Okine berated referees in an animated interview on basketball television program “Courtside” where he conceded defeat but raised issues about officiating.

“The time management was bad because we are playing running time and the referees will hold on to the ball for a player to come and take it before the game continues I mean you can’t do that because the time is going”.

“The referees seven minutes and the calls were bad. How can you give four technicals and unsportsmanlike on one team” he added.

Courtside shows on Thursday from 20:00 to 21:00 GMT on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports.
