The biggest news of the ongoing zonal competition in this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship has been created.
2017 UPAC silver medalist Marshalls University College has been dumped out of the competition following a 14-16 loss to Ghana Technology University College (GTUC).
GTUC topped Zone 7 to qualify to the national competition which takes place from April 12-14 at the University of Ghana.
On the other hand, Marshalls face a lot of questions about its play in the tournament more so, in the aftermath of David Asingar and Baboucar Gillen’s absence on the roster.
The Forward duo graduated from the program following last year’s impressive season where Marshalls won the PUSAG title and placed second in UPAC.
Asingar’s exciting play earned him a Tertiary Player Nomination at the 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards; Marshalls took home the best tertiary team award on the night.
The pair has been key to the team’s run in recent years since bursting on the scene in 2015 by placing fourth in its maiden UPAC Championship.
