STU (white and red strip) beat UENR 23-8

Kintampo (Blue) v UENR in 2018 UPAC Zone 4.
University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) fared better than they did a week ago when the side lost out on qualifying to the national competition of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

UENR beat LIR Royals 36-24 to recover from losing to Sunyani University College in the race for a place in the next stage of Ghana’s biggest tertiary basketball program.

However, the Global Sporting Platform-GSP- Basketball League defending league UENR champions have not been in good form lately but clinching the win is likely to serve as a boost to launch a successful league defense campaign.

In Week 9’s nine other big game, Barracks Scorpions topped league leaders Suncity Braves 39-36 to condemn the latter side to its second win of the campaign.

The win is Scorpions first over Braves since the GSP League commenced in 2015; conversely Braves have lost top spot to UENR.

A 12-7 fourth quarter lead was the turning point in the game enabling Scorpio to seal the win.
