Debutant Islamic University College has won its first game in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
The team beat University of Professional Studies (UPSA) 22-20 to win its first ever game in the renowned competition which is in its fifth edition.
The 2018 edition marks Islamic University’s first appearance and the side ensured it walked away from the Championship with something to build on.
Islamic University lost the opening in Zone 7 of this year’s edition which took place earlier today at the University of Ghana.
Marshalls University College beat Islamic University 49-27 before the latter suffered a nail biting 24-25 loss to Ghana Technology University College.
However, in the final game against UPSA, Islamic University got the win ensuring its run in the competition ended in a respectable one win, two losses record.
For UPSA, the disappointing run of the institution’s Male Basketball continues after recent struggles; the team is yet to progress beyond the preliminary zone since 2015.
Ghana Technology University topped the zone.
