Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) has beaten Marshalls University College to clinch top spot in Zone 7 of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
GTUC piped Marshalls 16-14 to record a big win; a win that takes the team to the national competition of this year’s UPAC.
Point Guard Bernard Tetteh proved to be the hero for GTUC as he drilled two free throws to give his side a two point win.
Tetteh got fouled on a drive with the game tied at 14 and he proceeded to sink both free throws to end the exhilarating game with his side on top.
On the other hand, Marshalls Shooting Guard David Okoe Laryea missed crucial free throws to win the game for Marshalls.
This is the second time Marshalls has missed free throws with game on the line following 2016’s close loss to University of Ghana at the zonal level.
GTUC took a 13-6 lead to the second half in a closely contested game that had veteran Guard from Marshalls Benjamin Debrah foul out early.
