Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) fought from a ten point deficit to clinch a win over University of Professional Studies (UPSA).
GTUC piped UPSA 30-29 in Zone 6 of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship taking place at the University of Ghana.
After a frantic start to the game from either side, UPSA built a healthy lead with excellent production from its backcourt.
However, GTUC fought from a 19-27 deficit midway through the final quarter, two straight three point shots cut the lead to two.
GTUC Center Emmanuel Ocquaye converted on two trips to the free throw line to seal the win and send the team into ecstasy.
It is a tough loss for UPSA who played well and deserved to win its maiden game in this year’s competition; the team’s chances of progressing beyond the preliminary stage have taken a big hit.
GTUC plays Islamic University College next; Islamic lost 27-49 to Marshalls University College. UPSA take on Marshalls University College.
