Two zones in the preliminary stage of this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship are yet to be played.

Games in the first of the two, Zone 7, will be played out on Saturday March 24 at University of Ghana with qualification to the next stage of the UPAC competition at stake.

Islamic University College, Marshalls University College, Ghana Technology University College and University of Professional Studies are competing in the zone this weekend.

Ahead of the games, Marshalls University has been tipped by many to top the zone and qualify to the national competition set for April 12-14.

Marshalls placed second in last year’s competition after winning the Private Universities Sports Association Games a few days before.

The team has been a steadily rising since placing fourth in its maiden appearance in UPAC in 2015; Marshalls placed fourth in 2016.

The side has added more quality to its roster for this year’s competition since veterans Benjamin Debrah and Emmanuel Dickson signed up to the institution.
