Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Accra Technical University (ATU) have recorded wins in second round games in Zone 6 of the 2018 Universities Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
GIMPA clinched a 31-19 win over Valley View University recovering from a 25-57 loss to Wisconsin International University College.
GIMPA showed off the quality of its backcourt with Jonathan Walkers and Captain Joe Tettey leading the young side to a crucial win.
The win puts GIMPA in line for a spot in the next stage should the team register a win over Accra Technical University in the final game of the zone.
Accra Technical have easily parlayed its home support to a major advantage taking giant strides to another appearance in the latter stages of the competition.
After dismantling Valley View courtesy a 55-9 win in the opening game of the zone, the home side extended it s winning run to two with 39-23 win over Wisconsin University College.
With both teams entering the game on the back of wins in the first round, this was the standout tie but ATU’s deep threat was too much for Wisconsin to handle after initially struggling in the opening quarters.
