GIMPA (white) v ATU

Accra Technical University (ATU) has won Zone 6 in this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship with an unbeaten record.

The team hosted the zonal competition and successfully defended it home court running out with three straight wins in as many games.

Accra Technical beat Valley View University 55-9 in the opening game and built on that by clinching 39-23 win over Wisconsin International University College.

Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) was the last team standing between ATU and a three game winning run but the former offered little resistance in the final game of the zone.

Accra Technical beat GIMPA 56-15 to clinch top spot in the zone with maximum points and seal a return to the national championship stage.

ATU has won the UPAC title twice but has not managed to win a third crown since 2015; the team placed second and third in the 2016 and 2017 editions.

ATU joins five qualified teams in the next stage set for April 12-14 in Accra. Valley View University ended its campaign without any losses as it lost 30-43 to Wisconsin University College.
