Gabriel Numarworse in action for ATU.
ATU placed second in 2016 UPAC.

ATU Center Suleman Abubakar gathers rebound in a tie against Pentecost University College.
Accra Technical University (ATU) has won the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship twice in 2011 and 2015.

However, the team has been on a decline since the capturing the first two editions of Ghana’s most celebrated tertiary basketball competition.

ATU has been on a slide in recent years placing second and third in 2016 and 2017 respectively falling further behind University of Ghana (UG) in the process.

With UG gunning for a third straight title, ATU’s grip as the most successful team in the UPAC Championship is at risk.

The team has the chance to correct that in this year’s competition starting with preliminary games in Zone 7 on Thursday March 22.

ATU will host the games and take on Wisconsin International University College, Valley View University and Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in a battle for the top spot.

Winning the zone qualifies the successful team to the next stage of the championship set to be played from April 12-14.
