For the first time since 2011, Sunyani Technical University (STU) will compete in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship quarterfinals.

STU clinched Zone 4’s sole spot late on Monday March 19 courtesy a 23-8 win over arch rival University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).

Former UENR Coach Andrew Quansah who currently heads STU, sparked the turnaround of fortune and after experiencing the national championship twice, he knows the task at hand will be tough.

“We are going to bigger grounds as in the national tournament and I know it will be a super challenge for us. Actually we are ready to face any challenge so that’s the spirit we have…I will try and push it up and motivate them in all ways possible” he said in an interview with Basketballghana.com

Aside STU, All Nations University College, University of Education-Winneba, Takoradi Technical University and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have booked spots in the quarters.

Zone 6 and 7 games respectively take place on March 22 and March 24 at Accra Technical University and University of Ghana.
