For the first time since 2011, Sunyani technical University (STU) will represent Zone 4 in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship national competition.

This is as a result of STU’s 23-8 win over University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) in the Zonal competition in Ghana’s Brong-Ahafo Region.

The result was delayed since tonight’s game was a continuation of March 16’s final zonal game between the sides which was rained off before the final quarter started.

STU led last week Friday’s tie 18-5 heading to the final quarter and finished off the job in once the final quarter was cleared to be played earlier today.

This represents a key turning point in the zone as 2016 and 2017 winners UENR will not feature in the national championship competition in Accra next month.

The turnaround of fortune is a shock considering UENR just missed out on a podium finish in last year’s competition after placing fourth.

Former UENR Coach Andrew Quansah now with STU, masterminded the big win.
