Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has missed out on qualifying to the next stage of the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.
Bitter rival Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) qualified from Zone 5 at the expense of KsTU.
Moreover, the institution failed to extend the “Host and Win” phenomenon sweeping through the zonal qualification phase in this year’s Championship.
KsTU lost 13-39 to KNUST and recovered well to beat Garden City University College 55-14 in the three team zone but it proved insufficient as KNUST walloped Garden City 100-4.
Takoradi Technical University and University of Education-Winneba hosted Zone 2 and Zone 3 and topped the respective zones.
Zone 4 Host Sunyani Technical University is on the verge of winning the zone as the team takes an 18-5 to an outstanding fourth quarter tie on Monday March 19.
The game was called off prior to the start of the final quarter in Zone 4’s final game due to heavy rain in Sunyani.
Games in Zone 1 were played at the Pope John Senior High School; a neutral ground.
