Former Los Angeles Lakers Center and two time NBA Champion Didier Mbenga has landed in Ghana Basketballghana.com can confirm.
The seven footer is in the West African nation and is expected to make an appearance on the nation’s biggest basketball television show “Courtside” which airs on Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports.
Mbenga has dual citizenship of Belgium and Democratic Republic of Congo representing the former in international competitions.
He started his professional career in Belgium with Leuven Bears before moving to the NBA and enjoying a seven year playing career with stops at Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors and New Orleans Hornets now Pelicans.
Despite being deployed mainly as a reserve throughout his stay in the NBA, Mbenga was on the Lakers roster with Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant and won the 2009 and 2010 NBA Titles.
Since 2005, Mbenga has been busy with his foundation-Mbenga Foundation-with the aim to develop youth in the Central African country.
Courtside airs from 16:00-18:00 GMT on Sunday.
