The battle for the top spot in Zone 5 of this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship is yet to be decided.
Host Kumasi Technical University has won a game and lost another to bring its campaign to an end since three teams are competing in the zone.
Kumasi Technical beat Garden City University College with a 55-14 win but lost the opening game 13-39 to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
KNUST play Garden City in the final game of the round knowing a win will be enough to take them through to another national championship competition.
Kumasi Technical needs Garden City to record what will be a shock win over KNUST to seal qualification; a close win for KNUST does them no favors as it opens the window for Kumasi Technical to sneak in as zonal winners.
The zone’s winner qualifies to the national championship joining the likes of All Nations University College and University of Education- Winneba (UEW).
