KNUST (yellow) scored 100 points in the game.

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science Technology (KNUST)’s Male Basketball Team has qualified to the quarterfinals of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The team topped Zone 5 of this year’s Championship to qualify to the national championship which will be held in Accra in April.

KNUST sealed qualification in fantastic style recording a 100-4 win over Garden City University College in the final game of the round.

KNUST registered a 39-13 win over host Kumasi Technical University in the opening game to need a win against Garden City to progress.

But the game’s winner was expected to be KNUST and at the end of the third quarter, there was little doubt as Garden City trailed 2-72.

Garden City scored just two more points in the final quarter to close out on a disappointing display in the zone following a 14-55 loss to Kumasi Technical.

KNUST extends its stranglehold on the zone further heads to Ghana’s capital hoping to contend for the title after failing to land on the podium in last year’s competition.
