Kintampo Health College will officially compete in the 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

Basketballghana.com gathers the institution has replaced Valley View University’s satellite Campus in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

This means Kintampo will compete in Zone 4 of the preliminary stage in this year’s competition which takes place on Friday March 16 at Sunyani Technical University.

Kintampo will compete for top spot in the zone with University of Energy and Natural resources (UENR), Catholic University College, Ghana and the host team Sunyani Technical.

UENR is the defending champion and is in line for a third straight zonal title after winning the past two editions.

This is Kintampo’s maiden appearance in the UPAC Championship since teams from the region were added to the roster in 2016.

The Championship is in its fifth year with the maiden edition taking place in 2011; Accra Technical University and University of Ghana have two titles apiece.

The zonal winner qualifies to the quarterfinals which will be held in Accra in April.
