UENR in action against Sunyani last year.

UENR v Catholic University (blue) in a previous encounter.
Kintampo Health College will make its debut in the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

Prior to this year’s edition, the team had been absent in the competition which is in its fifth year; UPAC started in 2011.

Kintampo stepped in as a replacement for Valley View University’s satellite campus in Ghana’s Brong-Ahafo Region.

Basketballghana.com gathers Valley View couldn’t make it to the Sunyani Technical University on Friday March 16 to compete in the zonal Championship hence the reason to find a replacement.

Kintampo will have the chance to fight for a place in the quarterfinals this weekend in Zone 4 alongside defending champion University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Catholic University College, Ghana and the host institution.

UENR has won the past two zonal titles and is up for a third on Friday; UENR placed fourth at the national Championship last year.

Only the zone’s winner qualifies to the next stage; All Nations University College, University of Education-Winneba and Takoradi Technical University have sealed spots in the quarters.
