University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has dominated the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship Brong-Ahafo Region Zone for the past couple of years.
On Friday March 16, the team will attempt a third straight zonal title when this year’s edition rolls out at the Sunyani Technical University.
The host team and UENR have been drawn alongside the likes of long time rival Catholic University College, Ghana.
UENR won the maiden zonal competition in 2016 and followed it up in 2017 to play in the UPAC quarterfinals in Accra.
In last year’s national championship, UENR qualified from the quarterfinal stage before placing fourth after losing to eventual Champions University of Ghana in the semifinal and Accra Technical University in the third place game.
However, UENR’s zonal titles were clinched on home soil; with this year’s competition taking place at Sunyani Technical it remains to be seen if the side can maintain its prolific run.
Three of eight zonal winners have been declared thus far.
