The 2018 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship train will touch base in Ghana’s Western Region capital, Sekondi-Takoradi today.

The Port City will host Zone 2 games in this year’s Championship preliminary round at the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) Main Court.

TTU will play in front of home fans as they battle Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA, Takoradi), Ghana Technology University College (GTUC-Takoradi) and University of Mines and Technology (UMAT).

Qualification to the quarterfinals of Ghana’s most celebrated and competitive tertiary basketball competition is at stake.

Only the zone’s winner makes it to the next round which will be played in the West African nation’s capital, Accra in April.

The zone features two institutions due to make their maiden appearances in the Championship; GIMPA-Takoradi and GTUC-Takoradi have not played in the UPAC since the competition started in 2011.

On the other hand, Takoradi Technical has been present at all four previous editions and aiming at translating its experience to a place in the next round.
