Uganda’s Male Basketball Team-Silverbacks- need to win a lot of games when the next phase of qualification to the FIBA 2019 World Cup begins.

The next round of qualifiers commences in late June this year and the top three teams in each of the four groups will make it to the final phase to determine the five teams to represent Africa in China next year.

Following Uganda’s sole win in three games played in the first round, Uganda’s qualification to the next stage is far from clear.

Making matters worse, Mali and Rwanda have the same one win, one loss record behind runaway Group B leaders Nigeria and Shooting Guard Robinson Opong notices the tough task ahead.

“I know the next three games in June-July will be very tough and we’re all aware of that” Opong said to FIBA.com before adding “We will give our all to ensure that we maintain this second place and improve our points for the next round”

Nigeria won all three games to lead the group with Uganda ahead of Mali and Rwanda.
