Today marks exactly a year since Ghana Basketball stalwart Benjamin Baafi passed away following a long battle with illness.

The veteran administrator’s demise comes on the heels of fellow Ghanaian legend Matthias Ocloo’s demise under similar circumstances.

At the time of his demise, Baafi was the Accra Basketball League Chairman leading the West African country’s elite club competition.

He doubled as Sports Director of Ghana’s Revenue Authority and leader of its basketball team Braves of Customs.

Baafi was awarded the Dedication and Valor Award at the 2016 Ghana Basketball Awards following his dedicated service to develop the sport.

Under his guidance, Braves extended its dominance in the league by winning multiple titles and competing in sub regional competitions.

Baafi moved into club administration after a successful playing career.

The team competed in the last FIBA Zone 3 Club competition held in Nigeria last year and placed fourth with continental giant Kano Pillars competing.

Basketballghana.com commiserates with Baafi’s family and Ghana’s basketball fraternity on this solemn day.
