Accra Technical University (ATU) Small Forward Alhassan Zakari has opined his team’s inability to meet expectations at the 2017 UPAC Basketball Championship was down to tiredness.

He made the statement in an exclusive interview with Basketballghana.com ahead of this year’s edition of the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Championship.

ATU has been placed in Zone 5 alongside Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Wisconsin University College and Valley View University.

After winning the first two editions of the competition in 2011 and 2015, ATU placed second in 2016 by University of Ghana and placed third in 2017 after losing to Marshalls University College.

Responding to the reason behind his team’s crucial loss to Marshalls, Small Forward Zakari said, “We were not that fit that’s what went wrong because if could realize when were playing against Marshalls for the semifinals, most of our guys were tired they couldn’t run the floor”.

ATU will host the zonal games on March 22; this year’s competition tips off on March 3 with games in the Eastern Region Zone.
