LIR Royals shock win over in the Global Sporting Platform (GSP) Basketball League has caused significant changes in the standings.
Royals beat defending champions and league leaders University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) 23-18 in the last round of games played at the Eusbett Court in Sunyani.
The loss is UENR’s first this season and first since losing to Suncity Braves in the 2016-2017 season; UENR did not lose a game last season.
Royals are the new leaders with 11 points the same as UENR but leads the latter courtesy a superior goal difference of 128 to 90.
Braves remain third with 11 points after beating Barracks Scorpions 49-20 for its fifth win in six games this season.
West Siders have tumbled to the basement of the standings after forfeiting its game against Desert Rabbits. Rabbits have been declared winners of the tie with a 20 point advantage.
Sunyani Technical University (STU) has moved to fifth following a 49-7 win over Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints.
