The first phase of qualification for Group B and Group D of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers has ended with Rwanda and Ivory Coast finishing bottom respectively.
The qualifiers ended over the weekend with Group B games taking place in Bamako, Mali and Group D taking place in Maputo, Mozambique.
After making a splendid start in Bamako thanks to a shock 74-70 win over host nation Mali, Rwanda lost its remaining games to Nigeria and Uganda.
Rwanda got hammered 58-103 by 2015 African Champions Nigeria before falling to rivals Uganda 63-79 in the final game.
Nigeria ended the campaign on top with Uganda and Mali placing second and third respectively with a win each.
In Group D, 2017 African Championship side Ivory Coast secured a big 67-60 win over power house Senegal but failed to grab wins against host Mozambique and Central African Republic.
The Elephants lost to Mozambique in the opening round and could placed among the top two spots but got piped 63-62 by Central African.
Senegal beat Mozambique 60-52 to clinch top spot with the latter placing second. The next phase of qualifiers will be played in June 2018.
