The Elephants of Ivory Coast bounced back after suffering an opening day loss in Group D of the ongoing FIBA 2019 World Cup qualifiers on the continent.

Ivory Coast stunned 2017 African Championship fourth placed side Senegal 67-60 following a 53-65 loss to host Mozambique in the first game.

The West African nation will be in action for the last time later today at 13:00 GMT against Central African Republic who are to yet to win a game.

Thanks to the win, Ivory Coast lies second in the group behind Mozambique who have maximum points following two wins.

Before home fans in Maputo, Mozambique’s national side added Central African to its list of beaten sides with a 59-52 win.

Mozambique clinched a crucial win over Ivory Coast in the first game and can the competition on a high note should it beat Senegal tonight at 17:30 GMT.

Senegal needs to win the game to ensure it heads to the next round with a winning record.
