Nigeria’s National Male Basketball Team, D’Tigers, are widely expected to come out tops of qualifying games in Group B for the World Cup.

FIBA 2019 World Cup qualifiers starts today and is ends on Sunday February 25 in Bamako, Mali for spots in the next round of qualification.

Nigeria and host Mali are joined by East African side Uganda and Central African representative Rwanda in the group.

Nigeria heads to the tournament as 2015 African Champions and Silver Medal winners at the 2017 edition held in Tunisia.

The team has settled on a 12 man roster for today’s game against Uganda with Captain and 2017 AfroBasket top scorer Ike Diogu headlining the roster.

Veterans Benjamin Uzoh and Michael Efevberha have made the final roster first step in securing one of Africa’s five slots at next year’s World Cup in China.

However, former NBA Draft pick and 2015 African Champion Michael Gbinijie was dropped from the 17 man preliminary roster picked by Coach Alex Nwora.
