As part of activities leading up to this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship, Basketballghana.com takes a critical look at teams set to compete in the fifth edition of the renowned tertiary games.
Takoradi Technical University (TTU) is a two time bronze medal winner of the competition following third place wins at the 2011 and 2016 Championships respectively.
The team has been an ever present member of the competition’s roster since the maiden edition was held in 2011.
However, TTU’s experience and success counted for little in last year’s tournament as the team got bundled out at the preliminary stage.
Takoradi lost to University of Cape-Coast (UCC) in the deciding game at the latter’s ground to miss out on securing a spot at the national games.
Despite featuring a team that had members of the 2016 third place side including Point Guard Kent Fosu, TTU was piped to the spot by a UCC side led by former Ghana Basketball Awards Tertiary Player of the Year nominee, Ibrahim Mohammed.
With the 2018 edition set to commence next month, TTU will be aiming for a run out at the national championship.
