Catholic University College, Ghana (CUCG) Saints are having a torrid 2017-2018 season as the team continues to struggle for wins.
The Sunyani-based Tertiary side is yet to win a game in the ongoing Global Sporting Platform (GSP) Basketball League after playing five games.
The league restarted following a long break this past weekend at the Eusbett Court but the team’s fortunes in the second round was no different from the first.
Saints got hammered 15-43 by LIR Royals who recorded their fourth win in five games this season and maintain its second placed position.
Royals Ernest Bennett top scored in the game with 14 points in a balanced output for the high flying LIR side in the final game of the round.
CUCG have a busy schedule ahead aside playing league games with the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Championship and Private Universities Sports Association Games (PUSAG) Basketball event coming up.
The team is one of three tertiary institutions competing in the league; one of the three, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) leads the standings.
