West African side Ivory Coast will take FIBA 2019 World Cup qualifiers later this month very seriously according to Aboubacar Hima.

The 25 year old player made the statement ahead of his country’s impending fixtures against Group D against Mozambique, Senegal and Central African Republic.

The qualifiers will be played from February 23-25 in Mozambique’s capital, Maputo with a spot in the next round of qualifiers up for grabs.

Playing against the host country and fourth placed side at the 2017 African Championship, Senegal, is a difficult task and the Ivorian national team must compete well to make it.

“We have to take these games like they are a Final. We have to go out there and do our job and get the wins” Hima said in an interview with FIBA.com

Ivory Coast has a lot to do after failing to progress beyond the group stage of last year’s African Championship.

The 2019 World event will be held in China and have five African teams compete.
