Basketballghana.com can confirm veteran Broadcaster and Entrepreneur Yaw Sakyi Afari has been officially appointed as the Basketball Patron of University of Ghana (UG).
The news comes on the back off reports Ghana’s leading hoops portal received last year regarding the prestigious appointment.
Celebrated for his immense contribution to developing basketball in Ghana especially through the education system, Afari’s confirmation comes as little surprise.
Through his firm Rite Sports Limited, Afari has overseen extensive projects such as Junior Ball, Sprite Ball and Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championships respectively develop over the years.
Sprite Ball and UPAC are recognized as the biggest basketball competitions in Ghana’s High School and Tertiary sects respectively.
Aside organizing much talked about basketball events in Ghana, Afari anchors the most popular basketball television show “Courtside” in the West African nation.
Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi and ardent supporter of Ghana Tennis Daniel McKorley- CEO of Mcdan Group have been handed similar appointments.
President Nyantakyi is UG’s football patron while Daniel McKorley is UG’s tennis patron.
