Senegal has been drawn in Group D for this year’s FIBA Women’s World Cup alongside defending Champions United State of America.
The West African powerhouse is joined by China and Latvia to complete the four team group ahead of preliminary games.
The 2018 World Cup will be held in Spain from September 22-30 with 16 teams participating in the four year competition.
Senegal are record winners of the FIBA African Championship (AfroBasket) with 11 titles in the bag but missed out on a 12th title last year after falling to Nigeria.
The team has a tough game ahead against record World Cup winner USA but has a strong chance of making the knockout stage.
Playing against China and Latvia, Senegal should fancy its chances of earning wins to qualify alongside overwhelming favorite USA.
However, Senegal is in a better situation than rival Nigeria considering the reigning African Champions are in Group B and will play against Australia, Turkey and Argentina.
Australia placed third at the 2014 edition while Turkey finished fourth.
