Kumasi Girls High School Headmistress Margaret McDavis Asamoah has stated immense determination has been key to her outfit’s rapid rise in female high school basketball.
KGEE beat Accra Wesley Girls High School 30-29 in overtime to win the 2018 Sprite Ball Championship in its third appearance at the renowned competition.
Speaking to Basketballghana.com in an exclusive interview, the Educationist was adamant the team’s strength to look beyond pertinent challenges chief among them a basketball court in terrible shape.
“ In actual fact we don’t have a permanent basketball court…despite that we don’t have a court, we managed to the training in whatever possible way we could and at long last the cup came to us. So it is determination and tenacity of purpose that brought us this far” she said.
Kumasi Girls made its debut appearance at the January 2016 edition and repeated it in December that same year earning fourth and second place finishes respectively.
Team Captain Rose Yeboah and Coach Zibo Brown won individual awards.
