Ghana Center Amida Brimah’s marked improvement since the turn of the year has been key to Austin Spurs rise to the top of the NBA Gatorade League standings.
The team leads the Western Conference standings 32 games into the 2017-2018 season and in line for a playoff appearance.
Spurs have won five straight games beating the likes of Grand Rapids Drive, Agua Caliente Clippers and Salt Lake City Stars.
The team has won 20 and lost 12 games this season recording seven wins in the last 10 games; the team’s latest win was a 105-97 victory over Santa Cruz Warriors in Oakland last night.
The South Bay Lakers are second in the standings with 18 wins and 12 losses while third placed Oklahoma City Blue have won 18 games but lost 14.
Brimah has played a central role for the Sours coming off the bench to lead the league in blocks; the highly rated defender has averaged 2.7 blocks this season.
Westchester Knicks lead the Eastern Conference with Fort Wayne Mad Ants in second place; Ghana Forward Ben Bentil played for Fort Wayne last season before moving to France.
