Ahead of this year’s Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship, two time winners University of Ghana (UG) look poised to win its third title.
Ghana’s premier tertiary institution’s male basketball team has been at the apex of tertiary basketball since 2016 winning several trophies.
The team won back to back UPAC Titles with the latter win in 2017 coming on the back of a dominant win over Marshalls University College.
This year’s UPAC competition is reportedly set to commence in February with several tertiary institutions due to participate.
Ahead of the tournament, UG is still in winning mode as the side recently won the basketball event of the 25th Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games.
The multi sport competition ended this past weekend at the University of Development Studies in Tamale with UG’s female side clinching a silver medal.
Winning in Tamale means UG has successfully defended the GUSA title and with the chance to win a historic third straight UPAC trophy in the offing, the team is primed to accomplish the feat.
