The University of Ghana (UG) Male Basketball Team has won the 2018 Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games.
The team clinched the title via a win over University of Cape-Coast (UCC) with University of Education-Winneba (UEW) placing third.
Beating UCC for the second time in the just ended competition at University of Development Studies in Tamale marked a great feat for Ghana’s premier tertiary institution.
The win in Tamale means UG has successfully defended titles won in more than one competition after successfully defended its 2016 Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Trophy in 2017.
UG beat Accra Technical University to lift the 2016 UPAC title and added another title with a dominant win over Marshalls University College last year.
At the 2016 GUSA Basketball Final, UG beat University of Professional Studies (UPSA) 65-49 to win the competition in Winneba.
With the same roster set to compete in this year’s UPAC, a third straight title defense is on the cards; the 2018 UPAC is reportedly set to commence in late February.
