University of Ghana (UG) Male Basketball Team has successfully defended its Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games title.

The team beat University of Cape-Coast (UCC) in the final game of the game of the competition which ends today at the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale.

The team won the 2016 edition staged at the University of Education-Winneba (UEW) and its latest victory marks back to back title wins.

Beating UCC in the final, earned UG one of five gold medals Ghana’s premier university won at the Games which is the 25th edition.

Aside winning five gold medals, UG won 11 silver medals and three bronze medals at the multi sport competition which is held biannually.

UCC’s silver medal helped the institution lead the medal table following the games conclusion; UCC placed third at the 2016 edition.

UEW won bronze in the male basketball competition improving on its performance at the last edition where the side missed out on a medal.
