Newly minted Champions of the 2018 Sprite Ball Championship, Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu-PRESEC) continue to bask in the glory of winning Ghana’s most prestigious high school basketball championship.
The team beat Mfantsipim 25-22 at the El Wak Stadium recently and is on a trophy tour visiting key figures like Ga Mantse Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and Accra Metropolitan Assembly Boss Mohammed Adjei Sowah.
However, the team’s joy could be short lived in the aftermath of the shock triumph as all members of the starting unit are ineligible to compete in the next edition.
The members including Captain Shadrach Mensah, Most Valuable Player winner Joel Koboayere and Shooting Guard Prince Lumorvi will graduate prior to the next tournament.
The mass exodus puts PRESEC under pressure considering the performance of teams in the championship that have suffered a similar fate.
Opoku Ware School failed to defend its title in this year’s competition after eight players graduated from the program following the team’s in in the December 2016 edition.
Winners in the female division that year, Wesley Girls Senior High School, exited the recent tournament after losing four players from its victorious team.
