2018 Sprite Ball Champions Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu-PRESEC) are set to meet Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Mayor Mohammed Adjei Sowah today Basketballghana.com can confirm.
The impending visit follows similar meets with Ga Mantse King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and AMA Director of Education Magdalene Frempong Kobe.
Since winning this year’s Sprite Ball Male Division Championship in early January, Osu PRESEC have been touring with the prestigious trophy.
Visiting the Mayor of Ghana’s capital region is significant since the school is the region’s first winner in the male division since 2009.
Accra has hosted the West African country’s biggest high school basketball championship since its inception in 2007 but representatives had performed poorly in recent years.
Osu-PRESEC beat record winners of the competition Mfantsipim School 25-22 to clinch its first trophy; the win was PRESEC’s second win over Mfantsipim following a 45-14 win in the opening game of the just ended tournament.
Regional representatives Sacred Heart Technical Institute and Accra Wesley Girls High School placed fourth in the male division and second in the female division respectively.
