Exactly a week ago, the 12th edition of the 11 year old Sprite Ball Championship concluded with a lot to be remembered.
The celebrated competition has achieved prestigious status but reached a new level as this year’s edition aired live on TV.
Ghana channel Kwese Free Sports televised the final games in the boys and girls divisions respectively live for the first time in the competition’s history.
The competition also recorded the largest turnout since the tournament’s inception in 2007 as supporters of competing schools filled the El Wak Stadium.
First time winners emerged in each division with Kumasi Girls High School clinching the female division and Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu PRESEC) winning the male category.
Both teams beat heavily tipped teams en route to the historic feat as Kumasi Girls edged out multiple champions Wesley Girls High School and T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School.
PRESEC on the other hand beat record winners Mfantsipim School twice in the competition including a 45-14 hammering in the opening game.
