University of Ghana (UG) has recorded its second win in the 2018 Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games by beating University of Professional Studies (UPSA) 85-41.
UG’s win comes on the back of a 60-12 win over University of Mines and Technology (UMAT) in the opening game; Ghana’s premier tertiary institution’s male basketball team is the defending champion.
The 2016 Champions beat UPSA in a repeat of the 2016 Final game to clinch the first of three major trophies including the All All Africa University Games; UG beat UPSA 65-49 in the 2016 Final.
UG takes on arch rival Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in its third game of the tournament on Wednesday, January 10.
This year’s GUSA Games are taking place at the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale and KNUST heads into the tie with a loss and uncompleted game.
The Kumasi-based side lost 36-43 to University of Cape-Coast and played out a 49-34 game against home side UDS but the game was called off with four minutes remaining on the clock. The tie will be continued.
