Presbyterian Senior High School (Osu-PRESEC) won the 2018 Sprite Ball Championship with a 25-22 win over Mfantsipim School in the final game of the exciting matchup.
The surprising win was the team’s second straight victory over the record winners of Ghana’s most celebrated high school basketball competition.
PRESEC handed Mfantsipim an embarrassing loss in the preliminary game with a 45-14 result in the Group A matchup.
The shock win tipped off this year’s competition and both teams squared off in the final game of the tournament with same the result produced.
While Mfantsipim got shocked out of its seats in the first game, the team competed well in the second matchup taking the game’s lead several times.
Shooting Guard Gabriel Hammond knocked down two consecutive shots to put Mfantsipim in the lead but PRESEC’s backcourt duo of Joel Koboayere and Prince Lumorvi carried their side to victory.
Guard Alhassan Abdul Rahim had a relatively quiet outing but contributed to stop the driving runs of Mfantsipim floor general Samuel Appiah.
