Mfantsipim survived a scare from Prempeh College to make the semifinals of the 2018 Sprite Ball Championship boys division.
The team beat Prempeh 20-16 with the Kumasi-based side’s profligacy from the charity stripe biting Prempeh hard at the end of the game.
Prempeh rolled into the quarters with three straight wins at the preliminary stage to top Group C but wasted several free throw shots.
Despite being far from its dominant self in previous editions of the competition, Mfantsipim continues to show why it is the most successful team in the competition by making another semifinal appearance.
On the other hand, Presbyterian Senior High School’s (PRESEC-Osu) continues to be the marvel at this year’s competition.
After topping Mfantsipim in Group A, the team beat St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School 18-12 in the opening semifinal game.
PRESEC-Osu is one of the relatively new teams in the competition and will feature in the semifinals for the first time after gliding past fellow Greater Accra Region rival St. Aquinas.
